The Green Dot
is a Pan-European financial participation symbol.
It forms part
of Irish Industry's response to the EC Directive and Irish Waste
Management (Packaging) Regulations. The Dot signifies that the supplier
of that packaging is financially contributing towards the cost of
recovery and recycling of packaging waste in Ireland through Repak.
Since January
2000, similar compliance schemes in nine other countries in Europe
use the Green Dot as a symbol of participation. They are:

campaign involves all forms of media at national and local level
as well as various promotional activities.
The compliance
schemes using the Dot have formed an association called Packaging
Recovery Organisation Europe (PRO Europe) to co-ordinate the licensing
and enforcement of the Green Dot. As a registered trademark in Ireland,
Repak will license the Green Dot for use by its Members. Any unauthorised
use will result in prosecution.
